Position: Truck Driver Assistant

Duties

Assist Truck Drivers in making deliveries of supplies, materials and equipment, and assist in loading and unloading of the equipment.

Log all items entering and exiting the truck and maintain a watchful eye on items remaining in the truck.  If you have to leave the truck, you must make sure the vehicle is secured.

Handle customers’ supplies and equipment with care.

Driver may be required to operate the truck in the absence of the assigned Truck Driver.  If so, you must operate all vehicles with care and safety in heavy traffic and park trucks in legal and or designated areas to keep driveways and traffic lanes clear.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Truck Driver assistants 

  • Law enforcement experience – active or retired
  • New York State class D license or its equivalent
  • Submit a resume to Shoot Movers
  • Submit to a background check
  • Have excellent driving skills
  • Must be over the age of 25 and have had a driver’s license for 5 years
  • Must maintain a professional attire and appearance
  • Know how to use hydraulic lifts, jacks, forklifts, block and tackle rigs, skids, flats, pallets, hand trucks, and other loading and storing devices
  • Make minor repairs to vehicles and equipment if required

Special Physical Requirement:

  • Safely lift and carry objects of up to 100 pounds
  • Produce a doctor’s note stating you are physically fit and able to lift and carry objects of up to 100 pounds on a regular basis.

Truck operators

  • Require a year of experience driving vehicles weighing at least 16,001 lbs. and experience, loading and unloading trucks, and operating loading and storing devices
  • Submit to a background check
  • A valid New York State driver’s license or its equivalent from another State.
  • Submit to a background check
  • A satisfactory driving record as obtained from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Must be over the age of 25 and have had a driver’s license for 5 years
  • Must maintain a professional attire and appearance
  • Know how to use hydraulic lifts, jacks, forklifts, block and tackle rigs, skids, flats, pallets, hand trucks, and other loading and storing devices
  • Make minor repairs to vehicles and equipment if required

SPECIAL NOTE

All employees in this classification are subject to the Federal Highway Administration regulations for drug and alcohol testing as required by the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991.

  • Have good communication skills and the ability to quickly learn and follow procedures
  • Work effectively with truck operators
  • Know how to use a fire extinguisher

We are seeking independent owner/operators of Pick-up trucks, Work Vans, Passenger Vans, Trucks, and Motor Homes, RVs for on call spot work.   (Tri-State NY, NJ & CT)
